It looks like things are progressing nicely in KC!

Looks like the retaining wall along I435 on the east side of the property is completed.

I'm looking forward to some information about the possible groundbreaking of the chapel, next to the temple, this weekend or very soon.  If anyone has details, let me know!!

A Temple for Me

I got my own lovely copy of the artist rendering of the temple in the mail today.

I will hang it up as soon as someone pries it from my hands.

Up"lifting"

It looks like we've had more storm chasers then Temple Chasers in Kansas City in the last month!  The recent photos I've seen of the temple lot reminds me of the song...."Riders on the Storm"!

It's quite a ride....this Temple Chasing.

Thanks to Val Anderson, I have a few stunning photos to share.

To my inexperienced eye, it looks like we have the beginnings of an elevator shaft being built.  Talk about the ultimate "uplifting" experience.  I know.  Bad.

I have also heard news that a framed official artist rendering of the temple, is now available for purchase.  I also understand that it is being offered at deeply discounted prices to members of the church in that area, with the Platte City Stake being mentioned to me specifically.  I can try to get more info if it is needed.  Apparently, you should all be receiving a copy of the temple rendering in your wards.

Please, do yourselves a favor.  Go and get a copy of this picture and put it in a prominent place in your home.  We need to be prepared for the coming of this temple.  If you see a picture of it everyday, maybe you'll be inspired to do what is necessary to be ready to be there when the time comes.  A picture of your temple within your daily vision will be "uplifting" indeed.

I just returned from a trip to Rome, Italy where a temple was announced to be built the same day as our's in Kansas City.  Ground has not even been broken there yet. I am reminded and deeply humbled by the blessing of having a temple in our midst.  The time will go by fast.  Please be ready.

My new Stake President offered an idea of a way to help us prepare.  Step up your current temple attendance.  If you are not going, go.  If you are going monthly, consider going twice a month or weekly.  I lived in Kansas City for 10 1/2 years.  I know what a sacrifice this is, to attend the temple.  I also know that we will be blessed for doing so.

I know I need all the uplift-ment I can get.  How about you?

How Firm a Foundation

A couple of nights ago....I saw in a dream what the progress of the temple looked like right now.

I suppose that makes it official!

I ventured over to the temple lot today for some photos.  

Don't ask me how I got that last shot.
It looks like they have graded the front drive.

Plumbing, wiring, foundationing....wait is that a word?  Check.

Now for some other news.

I am moving.

This will be my new temple.

When I first began chasing the Kansas City Temple, I had no thought that I might not be able to witness the entire building process and see it through to the completion and dedication.  I have no doubt that I was inspired to start this blog, if for no other reason at all other then to reinforce my love for and desire to be in the temple.

I have had several people ask me what I intend to do about my blog.  First of all, I have every intention of seeing this through. I will continue to post the progress and I plan on attending the open house as well as the dedication.  I may not be here in person but I will always be here in Spirit.  I am hoping that many of you will be my eyes between my visits.  If you have pictures you have taken that you would like to include, please email them to me with a description of each photo and your name.  I will post them here and credit the pictures to you.  You may also send me any articles or thoughts you have regarding the building of this temple as well as any other temples and I can include them here as well.

I am sad to be leaving this chosen, historical area at such a crucial time in history.  For what reason, is still unclear to me....save I know this is part of the plan for us.  I will be back.  As often as possible.

Staying on Top of It

I usually try to go to the temple site when the construction workers have gone for the night.  That way, they don't see a crazy lady trying to take pictures while they're working.  And since I haven't been issued an official Temple Chaser security badge or hard hat yet....

I'm trying hard to not interrupt business or create a safety hazard.  I'd like to leave the hard work up to those boys.  The less interruptions, the sooner they get it done, right? And I'm trying to obey the on site code of conduct.

But the crane has me intrigued and my husband too.  It is very impressive...that crane.  You can see it for miles away.
He offered to drive me in and down the the entrance a bit so I could stand on top of his truck to take some pictures.  That way I could get high enough to see what's going on. How's that for temple chasing?  We're having to get creative here.

Because the temple site has been built up on a hill and much of the construction is taking place beneath the surface, it is difficult to get high enough to see what is going on inside.  The fence that spans the perimeter, very well built I might add, prevents anyone from getting close enough to see. They are doing such a great job....very secure.  It looks like they are mightily working on the earthquake resistant foundation.

Today the gate was open and we were able to get a few shots.  It wasn't long before the hard hats started noticing us and we took our leave.  I mean, crazy lady standing on a Ford truck is pretty hard to miss.  But it's what we Temple Chasers do to stay on top of things....

The Inevitable Happened

I knew the day would come but I secretly hoped it wouldn't.

The temple lot is now enclosed in fencing.

Bummer for the Temple Chaser.

The good news is....work is progressing.  It looks like concrete is being poured in the hole...
a foundation!
We all know how important a good foundation is.
