A Temple Story

Here is one family's story of their journey in the gospel:

These are friends, Tom and Val.
Tom was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Because Tom had a "bucket list", he wanted to complete before he passed away, he decided to get a new hot rod engine from this guy...

Meet Dave, a rock star in the hot rod custom car world.
There was something he felt from Tom and Val.  A peace, he calls it.

Meet Dave's lovely wife, Carol.
They all became friends.
No, friends isn't really the right word for it.
It is more like "family".

Dave and Carol decided to be baptized.

Dave, Carol, Val and her family, Tom and his family all went to do baptisms in the Winter Quarters Temple.

Dave, Carol, Tom and his family all came to see the statue of Brother Angel Moroni when he arrived in town at the Kansas City Temple.  Tom's health grew weaker.

After his valiant battle on Earth ended, Tom passed away.
He was escorted to his burial home, by...you know it...the Camaro.  Which, by the way, Dave and Carol now own.

This is yesterday, May 12th, 2012, the first Saturday the Kansas City Temple was ever opened for ordinance work.

Dave and Carol were endowed and sealed.

Surrounded by so many who love them.  An extended family.

Tom was not there with us in body, but his spirit was felt by more than one in the room.

We are so thankful for the gospel of Jesus Christ and His eternal plan.

A 'Win-win' day at the Temple

"Kathy Lyon and I attended the temple today.  Together.  At 11am.

A six minute drive from my house.

The parking lot was packed.

We took some shots to capture it.

I am in the black dress...you might not recognize me without my housecoat. :)

We met the Matron.  She was younger than I guessed she would be.

We did our work, which was special.  Quiet. Meditative.

I prayed about my sick son.  And my direction in life and where should that path go.

I cried for happiness because I had a tender experience, tailored just for me.

As we were walking out, an older couple stopped us and asked us to take their picture.  They revealed, they had just been sealed.  "We've waiting a long time", they said.

As we got in the car, this cool bumper sticker was on the car next to us.

We ARE all winners.  My husband calls the gospel of Jesus Christ a "win-win" plan.

And I believe it."~ Valerie

No Words to Describe

Because words can't do justice to the excitement and gratitude that was felt at the Kansas City Temple Cultural Celebration...let the pictures speak for themselves.

I was thrilled to be able to watch some of this online that evening.  Thousands of hours of work went into making this event spectacular and memorable for thousands of youth.  For them to perform for the living Prophet of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was a well deserved memory that none of them will forget any time soon.  Zion's youth love the Temple!

Thank you to those who sacrificed so much for the youth of this temple district.  Thank you to Valerie Anderson for these beautiful photos.
